Alex Kipman of Redmond, Wash., Named as RIT Distinguished Alumnus

ROCHESTER, NY (03/26/2013)(readMedia)-- Alex Kipman of Redmond, Wash., is the recipient of a 2013 Rochester Institute of Technology Distinguished Alumni Award.

Kipman, who graduated from RIT in 2001 with a degree in software engineering, is the general manager of incubation for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, where he created the Kinect sensor. He is the primary inventor and holder of more than 60 patents since 2001.

Each year, RIT's leaders select one graduate from each of the university's nine colleges who embodies the best of RIT. This year, nine distinguished alumni stand out among the more than 111,000 accomplished graduates for celebrating creativity and demonstrating a passionate performance in their profession.
