Amelia Ying named Liberty League Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year

Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) of the RIT women's tennis team earned All-Liberty League honors, as the league announced its 2016 end of season awards on Tuesday, May 17. Ying was named the Rookie of the Year, as well as an All-Liberty League first team selection at singles.

Ying joined the team in the spring, breaking out to lead the Tigers with eight singles victories, all in the top slot. In her fourth singles match in dual play, Ying won her first collegiate match, against Karli Hollins of Division II Daemen College. Ying then went 7-2 the rest of the way, winning her last three matches, including a 6-2, 7-5 straight set victory over Emily Wyman of No. 37 St. Lawrence. Ying was named Liberty League Rookie of the Week twice during the season.

The Tigers finished with four dual victories in the 2015-16 season under first year head coach Zach Remis.
