2014 Mar 3

Liberty League commissioner Tracy King recently announced the 234 winter sport student-athletes who have qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams in their respective sports -- including a total of 28 student-athletes from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Ashlynn Palmitesso, a sophomore on the women's basketball team, is among the honorees. Ashlynn is in RIT's biomedical engineering program.

The Liberty League's winter championship sports include men's and women's basketball, men's squash, and men's and women's swimming and diving. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20.

"The outstanding students who have qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams continue to demonstrate that it is possible to not only compete at the highest levels of Division III, but to also excel in the classroom," said King, "The academic achievement of our student-athletes is a great source of pride within the Liberty League."
