Bethany Choate named a 2015 college delegate

2015 Jun 3

Bethany Choate of Rochester was chosen as the 2015 graduate college delegate for Rochester Institute of Technology's Center for Multidisciplinary Studies. While working for the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science as an outreach specialist, Choate decided to simultaneously earn her master’s degree in professional studies to blend her technical background with management, communication, and Web development skills. Choate hopes to use her knowledge toward effectively communicating STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) and growing the next generation of scientists and engineers. The Rush, N.Y., local also earned her undergraduate degree in imaging science with highest honors from RIT in 2006.

Each of RIT's colleges selects one or more student representative to participate in the Academic Convocation and college commencement ceremonies. The delegates' overall personal achievement demonstrates the ideals of RIT, including but not limited to academic achievement. During Academic Convocation, held this year on May 22, college delegates accept degrees on behalf of their colleges' graduates during the symbolic conferral of degrees. Each college delegate speaks at his or her college commencement ceremony.

Congratulations, Bethany!
