Dempsey King earns Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference weekly accolades

Dempsey King of the RIT wrestling team was named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Jan. 15. 2017. It is his first weekly honor of the season.

King went 5-0 at 157 lbs., at the prestigious Budd Whitehill National Duals hosted by Lycoming College. Friday, he defeated Brett Beltz of Thiel, 9-5, pinned Scott Mattison of Wisconsin Eau-Claire in 2:10 and won a 5-0 decision over Luke Balina of The College of New Jersey. Saturday, King knocked off Michael DeCapua of Oswego, 12-2 and Gabriel Corrochano of Williams, 3-0. King is now 15-3 on the season and a perfect 9-0 in dual matches. It is King's third ECWC honor of his career.
