Dempsey King earns second Empire Collegeiate Wrestling Conference Rookie of the Week honor

Freshman Dempsey King of the RIT wrestling team, was named the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending Jan. 31, 2016. It is King's second ECWC weekly honor of the 2015-16 season.

King won all three matches by pin at the Wilkes Quad Meet on Sunday. He opened the day with a pin in 2:05 over Daniel O'Neil of Scranton and pinned Morgan Fuller of Wilkes in 1:30. King wrapped up the day with a pin over Josh Paul of West Virgina Tech. King is now 18-6 this season with a 6-1 mark in dual meets. Nine of his 18 wins have come via pin.

RIT is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 6, heading to Baldwin Wallace College for the John Summa Invitational that gets underway at 10 a.m.
