Derek Landis Graduates from #RIT

2014 Jul 21

Derek Landis of Frederick, Md., graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with an Associate in Science degree in applied liberal arts from RIT's National Technical Institute for the Deaf. Derek was the National Technical Institute for the Deaf's undergraduate delegate. Each of RIT’s colleges selects one or more student representative to participate in the Academic Convocation and college commencement ceremonies. The delegates’ overall personal achievement demonstrates the ideals of RIT, including but not limited to academic achievement. During Academic Convocation, college delegates accept degrees on behalf of their colleges’ graduates during the symbolic conferral of degrees. Each college delegate speaks at his or her college commencement ceremony.

Rochester Institute of Technology is internationally recognized for academic leadership in business, computing, engineering, imaging science, liberal arts, sustainability, and fine and applied arts. In addition, the university offers unparalleled support services for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. RIT enrolls 18,000 full- and part-time students in more than 200 career-oriented and professional programs, and its cooperative education program is one of the oldest and largest in the nation.

For three decades, U.S. News & World Report has ranked RIT among the nation's leading comprehensive universities. RIT is featured in The Princeton Review's 2014 edition of The Best 378 Colleges, its Guide to 322 Green Colleges and The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2014.
