2016 Mar 2

Emma Jones of the RIT women's cross country team earned 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors. All honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and finished in the top 25 percent in its respectable regional meet.

Jones, a game design and development major, posted an 81st place finish in the NCAA Championships, best by a RIT runner in school history at the event. At the Atlantic Regional Championship, Jones placed sixth, which was also the best performance ever by a RIT runner, earning All-Atlantic Region honors for the third straight year. Jones earned All-Liberty League first team accolades with a fifth-place finish at the league championship. The 6,000-meter school record holder, Jones also recorded two top-five finishes in 2015, placing fourth in the Mike Woods Invite, and third at the Flower City Opener to begin the season.

Jones also earned Liberty League All-Academic Team honors in 2015.

The Tigers enjoyed an unforgettable and historic 2015 season, advancing to the NCAA Championship for the first time in program history. RIT ascended to as high as No. 16 in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll.
