JD Harper named a 2015 college delegate

2015 Jun 3

JD Harper of Rochester was chosen as the 2015 graduate college delegate for Rochester Institute of Technology's Golisano Institute for Sustainability. As a pioneer of the graduate architecture program, Harper made a lasting impact on RIT in several ways. The Miami native helped found the RIT chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students and also worked on the construction of Institute Hall in 2012 during a co-op. Following graduation, Harper will join HYL Architecture in Washington, D.C., as a designer and intends to achieve licensure within the next few years. Harper’s class will be the first to graduate from RIT’s Department of Architecture.

Each of RIT's colleges selects one or more student representative to participate in the Academic Convocation and college commencement ceremonies. The delegates' overall personal achievement demonstrates the ideals of RIT, including but not limited to academic achievement. During Academic Convocation, held this year on May 22, college delegates accept degrees on behalf of their colleges' graduates during the symbolic conferral of degrees. Each college delegate speaks at his or her college commencement ceremony.

Congratulations, JD!
