Ja'Nai Gray receives 2015 RIT Leadership Award

2015 May 5

Ja'Nai Gray , a sociology and anthropology major in RIT's College of Liberal Arts, received the Frederick Douglass Memorial Scholarship (third place) during a ceremony April 22 at RIT.

More than two dozen RIT students with hometowns as close as Rochester and as far as India were honored. The traits they have in common were celebrated: they are students who get involved, take charge, solve problems and inspire their fellow students.

"Leaders say 'we' instead of 'me,'" said RIT Student Government President Ashley Carrington, keynote speaker at the ceremony. "In order to lead, you must be able to follow. And leaders create an open space for creative ideas. We are the future, so let's build it together."

Congratulations, Ja'Nai!
