Karine Florent named a 2015 college delegate

2015 Jun 3

Karine Florent of Tregueux was chosen as the 2015 graduate college delegate for Rochester Institute of Technology's Kate Gleason College of Engineering. An international student from Trégueux, France, Florent came to RIT to earn her master’s degree in microelectronic engineering. Florent received the Renan Turkman Scholar Award in 2014 for her outstanding knowledge and interest in the field of semiconductor devices and technology and is currently working with on her thesis with Professor Santosh Kurinec. After graduation, Florent will continue her studies at RIT in the engineering Ph.D program.

Each of RIT's colleges selects one or more student representative to participate in the Academic Convocation and college commencement ceremonies. The delegates' overall personal achievement demonstrates the ideals of RIT, including but not limited to academic achievement. During Academic Convocation, held this year on May 22, college delegates accept degrees on behalf of their colleges' graduates during the symbolic conferral of degrees. Each college delegate speaks at his or her college commencement ceremony.

Congratulations, Karine!
