Kayla Sandoval named a 2015 college delegate

2015 Jun 3

Kayla Sandoval of El Paso was chosen as the 2015 undergraduate college delegate for Rochester Institute of Technology's College of Applied Sciences and Technology. Sandoval is a mechanical engineering technology undergraduate student from El Paso, Texas. An active member of the RIT community, Sandoval served as an orientation assistant and tutor in addition to her work with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Tech Crew and the Multicultural Center for Academic Success. Upon receiving her diploma, she hopes to take her engineering talents to a top-tier aerospace company. However, Sandoval says she will miss the Rochester snow. She saw snow for the first time in her life during her freshman year and even learned to snowboard later that winter.

Each of RIT's colleges selects one or more student representative to participate in the Academic Convocation and college commencement ceremonies. The delegates' overall personal achievement demonstrates the ideals of RIT, including but not limited to academic achievement. During Academic Convocation, held this year on May 22, college delegates accept degrees on behalf of their colleges' graduates during the symbolic conferral of degrees. Each college delegate speaks at his or her college commencement ceremony.

Congratulations, Kayla!
