2016 Feb 25

Sophomore James Bailey of the RIT men's cross country squad earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country (USTFCCCA) 2015 All-Academic honors. All honorees must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 and finished in the top 25 percent in its respectable regional meet.

Bailey, a new media design major, enjoyed a strong season for the Tigers, finishing in the top-25 in all six races, including four top-10 finishes. An All-Liberty League first team selection, Bailey ran a career-best 25:21.2 at the Mike Woods Invitational, finishing ninth. At the Canisius Alumni Classic, Bailey had his best personal finish, placing second. Bailey placed fifth at the Liberty League Championships, with a strong time of 25:51.7, earning first team honors. At the NCAA Atlantic Regionals, he finished 23rd, good for All-Atlantic Region accolades.

Bailey also finished the fall having earned Liberty League All-Academic Team honors. He was one of 268 men from 151 cross country teams to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic accolades.

The Tigers finished the 2015 cross country season on a high note, finishing a strong third at the Liberty League Championships, and 16th at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship.
