Natalie Snyder garners fourth Liberty League Diver of the Week honor

2016 Mar 2

Senior Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville) of the RIT women's swimming and diving team was named the Liberty League Women's Diver of the Week on Monday, for the week ending Feb. 28, 2016. It is Snyder's fourth weekly honor of the 2015-16 season and fifth of her career.

Snyder claimed RIT's first ever title by a female diver at the 2016 NCAA Region 4 Diving Championships, hosted by SUNY Cortland at Harriet Holsten Pool on Friday in the 1-meter event. On Saturday, Snyder finished seventh overall in the 3-meter competition.

Snyder went back and forth with Miranda Fergus of Cortland, as the two traded leads for most of the 11-dives. In the end, Snyder would emerge victorious, with a score of 450.30. Fergus was behind in second with a score of 436.85, while Meghan Kilgallon of Brockport was third (424.35) and Katie Helly of Ithaca placed fourth (423.80).

On Saturday, Synder placed seventh out of the 24 divers with a score of 433.35. Fergus won the event with a score of 459.45, 15 points ahead of Ithaca's Anna Belson. Fourth through seventh place was separated by just six points.

Snyder will represent RIT at the 2016 NCAA Championship, which will take place from March 16-19 at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C.
