Natalie Snyder to represent RIT women's swimming and diving at 2016 NCAA Championships

2016 Mar 11

Senior diver Natalie Snyder (Rockville, MD/Rockville) of the RIT women's swimming and diving team will look to win the first Division III title for the program, as she represents the Tigers at the 2016 NCAA Championship on March 16-19 at Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C. It is Snyder's first appearance at the NCAA Championship. Snyder will compete in the 1-meter diving championship on Thursday, March 17 and the 3-meter championship on Saturday, March 19.

Snyder will be one of 24 divers, competing in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events. On Feb. 26, Snyder became the first RIT woman to claim a regional title, as she bested a competitive field at the NCAA Region 4 Diving Championship at Cortland. In the 1-meter event, Snyder claimed the title with an 11-dive total of 450.30. The next day, Snyder placed seventh out of 24 divers in the 3-meter event with a score of 433.35. Fourth through seventh place was separated by a mere six points.

Snyder, a four-time Liberty League Diver of the Week in 2015-16, won the 1-meter diving event and placed third in the 3-meter diving competition at the 2016 UNYSCSA Championships on Feb. 19-20. The 2015 Liberty League champion in the 1-meter dive, Snyder is undefeated this season in that event. She also holds both 1- and 3-meter six-dive records at the university. On Jan. 23 against Rochester, Snyder bested her own record in the 1-meter dive by almost 35 points with a score of 328.05. In the 3-meter, Snyder topped former teammate Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean)'s mark of 256.95 with a score of 264.75.
