Rebecca Schwan garners Liberty League Track and Field weekly honors

Rebecca Schwan of the RIT women's track and field team was honored by the Liberty League on Monday, for the week ending March 5, 2016. Schwan was named the Liberty League Rookie of the Week.

Schwan broke Nicole Varble's five-year old school mark at the ECAC Championships in the 1,000-meter run on Saturday, finishing third overall in a time of 2:57.82. Varble held the previous school record of 3:01.24. She was also part of the distance medley relay team that smashed their own school record, set last week at the NYSCTC Championships by 13 seconds, finishing second to Misericordia by under a second, finishing in a time of 12:00.04. It is Schwan's second straight weekly honor.
