San Leandro, Calif., Resident Andrew Rietz Receives Syska Hennessy Group Inc. Scholarship

Andrew Rietz, a resident of San Leandro, Calif., received the Syska Hennessy Group Inc. Scholarship from the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. The dual major at Rochester Institute of Technology, who is studying civil engineering technology and mechanical engineering, will receive a $2,500 award. Scholarships are based on students' cumulative grade-point average, college activities, work experience and an essay on consulting engineering.

Rietz is focusing his liberal art studies on communications and anticipates graduating from RIT in 2013. He is a member of the RIT rock-climbing team and a past member of both the ultimate frisbee team and cycling team.

Each year, the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York awards 15 to 20 scholarships to students from engineering colleges across New York state. The council represents 280 consulting engineering firms companies and supports the business interests of its members through advocacy, networking, education and business services.
