Shannon Smith wins international scholarship

Shannon Smith won the Gilman International Scholarship for the summer term. This program aims to diversify study abroad participants and awards up to $5,000 for undergraduates. Smith also won a fellowship to study at the Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Japan. The KIT Fellowship is a six-week program during which students attend cultural programs, field trips and lectures, and develop science projects. Smith, an American Sign Language-English interpretation student at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, will study in Japan.
