Timothy Heard Inducted into #RIT's Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society

2014 Jun 6

Timothy Heard, son of Marge Heard of Rapid City, S.D., and Les Heard of Rapid City, S.D., has been inducted into Rochester Institute of Technology's Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. Timothy is a graduating fifth-year student in the Software Engineering - BS program in RIT's B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Alpha Sigma Lambda was founded in 1964 to honor students who represent the guiding principles of ASL: Activities, Scholarship and Leadership.

Being an Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society member allows RIT's senior students recognition for outstanding academic achievement and campus leadership involvement. They receive an Alpha Sigma Lambda medal to wear for graduation and they are invited to a special dinner at President Bill Destler's home honoring all recipients. The students' names are engraved on a plaque in the Student Alumni Union entrance, joining more than 600 RIT alumni already honored.

In order to be eligible for nomination, the student must meet the following criteria: full time, matriculated senior in a four/five-year program with a minimum of 3.4 cumulative GPA; an active member for one full year in at least two university activities, organizations or committees; and demonstrated leadership position.

Congratulations, Timothy!
