2016 May 25

For the second straight season, junior outfielder Will Gorman (Nassau, NY/Columbia) of the RIT baseball team was named to the 2016 D3Baseball.com All-New York Region First Team on Monday, May 23.

A first team selection in 2015, Gorman also earned ABCA/Rawlings All-New York Region first team honors as well. Earlier this month, Gorman was named an All-Liberty League first team selection for the second consecutive season.

In 2016, Gorman re-wrote the single-season record book at RIT. He set single-season school marks with 61 hits, 166 at-bats, eight home runs, 52 runs batted in, and 107 total bases, while stealing eight bases, batting .367, and slugging .645. He was incredible over the last 12 games of the season, hitting five homers, while driving in 34 runs. Gorman finished the season by slugging 1.032 with 24 RBIs over his final seven games, including a single-game record tying eight RBIs against Bard on May 7. He had 18 multiple-hit games and reached base in all but three games.

This added on to a 2015 season in which Gorman hit seven home runs and added 46 RBIs, while batting .363 to go along with 27 walks. As a freshman in 2014, Gorman hit .351 with two homers and 14 RBIs in just 77 at-bats.

Gorman is second all-time at the university with 17 home runs and 112 RBIs and third with a .624 career slugging percentage. He is a career .362 hitter with 22 doubles and 23 triples, 14 stolen bases, and has a .426 on-base percentage.

RIT finished the 2016 season with an 18-22 record and were 12-12 in Liberty League play.
