William Gorman earns 2016 All-Liberty League accolades

William Gorman of the RIT baseball team earned 2016 All-Liberty League postseason honors, as the league announced its annual awards on Tuesday, May 17. Gorman was a first team selection.

Gorman, also a first team selection last year and an honorable mention pick in 2014, re-wrote the single-season record book at RIT in 2016. He set single-season school marks with 61 hits, 166 at-bats, eight home runs, 52 runs batted in, and 107 total bases, while stealing eight bases, batting .367, and slugging .645. He was incredible over the last 12 games of the season, hitting five homers, while driving in 34 runs. Gorman finished the season by slugging 1.032 with 24 RBIs over his final seven games, including a single-game record tying eight RBIs against Bard on May 7. He had 18 multiple-hit games and reached base in all but three games. Gorman is second all-time at the university with 17 home runs and 112 RBIs and third with a .624 career slugging percentage.

The Tigers finished the 2016 season with an 18-22 overall record, finishing fifth in the Liberty League standings with a 12-12 mark.
