William Gorman named Liberty League Baseball Player of the Week

Junior outfielder Will Gorman (Nassau, NY/Columbia) of the RIT baseball team, was named the Liberty League Baseball Player of the Week on Monday, for the week ending May 8, 2016. It is Gorman's first weekly honor of the season and second of his RIT career.

Gorman enjoyed an incredible week from Monday, May 2 to Sunday, May 8 for the Tigers, hitting .360 (9-for-25) with three homers, two doubles, a triple, 18 RBIs, and eight runs scored, while slugging a remarkable .880. He started the week by hitting a grand slam, driving in five runs at nationally-ranked Oswego. On Saturday, Gorman hit two homers and drove in a program-record tying eight RBIs in game one, a win over Bard. He added a pair of RBIs in game two and on Sunday, hit a two-run double, breaking a 36-year old school record for total bases in a season.

On Monday, Gorman wrapped up the season by going 4-for-6 with his seventh and eighth home runs of the season, and six RBIs. Over his last 12 games, Gorman drove in an incredible 34 runs.

Gorman broke his own school record with 52 RBIs, while tying a 36-year old mark with eight homers, breaking the long standing record with 107 total bases, while setting team marks with 61 hits and 166 at-bats.

RIT finished the 2016 season with an 18-22 record.
