Zachary Zabel earns 2016 All-Liberty League accolades

Zachary Zabel of the RIT baseball team earned 2016 All-Liberty League postseason honors, as the league announced its annual awards on Tuesday, May 17. Zabel was a second team selection.
Zabel, RIT's second baseman for the last four seasons, enjoyed an excellent 2016 season, leading the Liberty League with a RIT single-season record 24 stolen bases and 29 walks (second most in one season at RIT), while hitting .313 with a team-best 36 runs scored. In the field, Zabel recorded a sparkling .964 fielding percentage in 197 chances. He recorded 14 multiple-hit games on the season and tied a RIT single-game record with four stolen bases on May 8 against Bard. Overall, Zabel hit .320 with a .423 on-base percentage, with career totals of 138 hits, 100 runs scored (tenth most at RIT), 67 walks (tied for fourth most at RIT), and 57 stolen bases (second most at RIT).
The Tigers finished the 2016 season with an 18-22 overall record, finishing fifth in the Liberty League standings with a 12-12 mark.
