Zachary Zabel earns Liberty League Baseball Weekly honors

Zachary Zabel of the RIT baseball team earned Liberty League Baseball weekly honors on Monday, for the Week ending May 1, 2016. Zabel was named the Liberty League Player of the Week, his first weekly honor.

Zabel hit .692 (9-of-13) and scored five runs in a four-game series at Rochester. He was 3-for-3 with a run scored in game one Saturday, a 5-0 win. Zabel was 2-for-2 with with a double, walk, and stolen base in a 6-5 loss in game two. Sunday, Zabel went 4-for-5 in game two with a double, RBI, stolen base and two runs scored in an 11-8 loss. He has matched career-highs with 38 hits, 27 runs, and set personal bests with 24 walks and 16 stolen bases this season. Zabel is hitting .314 overall with a .439 on-base percentage.
